A Video a Day – Experiment No. 1 – “Face”

Hello lovely people of the internet! Today I’ve started a new project, which I hope I will have the time to be able to continue!

Benny Aves 30 Day ChallengeA good friend of mine, Benny Aves, is doing a 30 day challenge – where he is making a tune in a day, for 30 consecutive days, and uploading it without fussing over quality and mixing etc. I thought that sounded like a banging idea, and that I’d have a crack at doing the same thing but with video, using each of the tunes that he’s making as the starting platform. I see it as a good way of experimenting with weird effects and ideas that I wouldn’t normally use. The only rule I’ve given myself is that I have to upload the videos the same day as I start them. Make of them what you will!

I dunno if I can commit to 30 consecutive days like Benny Boy, but I’ll do as many and as often as I can!

Below is experiment/video/day/tune numero uno. Please subscribe to my YouTube channel for the new tunes and videos as they roll out, and follow Aves’s 30 day challenge on Soundcloud for a tune a day from now until Christmas!

As with all my videos. this was edited in Premiere Pro with various plugins. Have a nice weekend!

“Transient in the Cosmos” // Experimental Green Screen Film // June 2014

An experimental, 30 second green screen film me and Rory made for a competition by electronics brand Philips, which was to demonstrate what life would be like with zero gravity. Top prize was $6,000, and no, we didn’t even place!

We had a laugh making it though. Essentially all it is, is footage shot in front of a green piece of cloth we set up in a barn, overlaid with some licence-free footage off YouTube, and some sound effects. It was edited in Premiere Pro & After Effects, using the built in ‘Ultra Key’ plugin, as well as some keyframed movement and colour correction.

edIT – “Ants”: A Psychedelic Visualisation!

A psychedelic visualisation I made after a few beers and after realising that this album is now 10 years old! So you could call it a tribute… Biggup edIT!
